So with boyfriend returned from camping and the holiday weekend of wonderful gluttony behind me… I have started my half marathon goal. My legs are killing me. I ran/walked about 2.5 miles yesterday and then ran a mile or so almost non-stop today. I had about a 30 second walk in there. I would have went longer but it was a thunderstorm and my legs were a bit sore from trying to be too ambitious yesterday.

But anyway… I’m doing it.
My sister, who lives in Washington DC, sent me a text message this weekend saying she ran a 10K and I’m really supportive of her for doing it, however, I’m also extremely competitive and hearing her say she did that lit a fire under my ass. Being that I’m a terrible runner, I have to start from scratch. It’s tough work, but I feel like once I get the mental aspect down and keep pushing- I can overcome a lot of the issues.
I even resisted a cupcake at work yesterday and brought my lunch today. These are all minor things but still- you gotta start somewhere!! (Any and all motivation and encouragement can be left in comment form PLEASE!!!! I’m seriously going to need it!!)
So who’s with still with me? What have you all been doing?

If I had any surefire motivational techniques, I’d use them on myself. I’m such a lazyass.
Good luck with your race training!

In stark contrast, there’s a bowl of unwrapped chocolate bars – Boost and Picnic, actually – sitting on a cabinet not a meter from my work desk. I don’t know who brought them in, or why, but once they were offered, I succumbed twice. Yesterday, someone else left half a Kit-Kat on my desk. The day before, yet another person walked around with a tray of Tim-Tams. All of which leads me to conclude that if my contract here doesn’t finish up soon, I’m going to be rolling to work.
Good luck with the half marathon!

I am soooo proud of you for passing on that cupcake!!!! Little steps equal up to HUGE results. I road my bike over to the gym last night and walked/ran for over an hour… My legs are feeling it today, that’s for sure! All this marathon talk has really gotten me thinking about training for one. That is a huge accomplishment. Keep up the great work!
P.S. LOVE the new character… so cute!

Ummm…I only run when chased so I have nothing to add to this discussion. I have no problem holding water for marathoners, but I’ve seen too many bloody nipples to think any of that looks fun.
The new header is cute. Does the girl change every once in awhile or has the header been updated? Love it, love it, love it!

The girl doing my design was making revisions as she went. So this will be the final. So that’s just the header finally being updated.
And yes- I have heard of the bloody nipples thing… but I think that’s mostly a guy thing. (I HOPE!) But don’t get it twisted- it’s not fun at all. I’d rather sit and eat crap and watch SATC reruns on TBS.

Speaking of SATC reruns…I’m watching them right now on DVD (and you should totally be here with me feasting on heatlhy veggies (aka a pint of ice cream – just kidding). To be honest though, I really wish I could run and such but I’m just too freaking depressed right now (perhaps the running will help – mmm…endorphins.)
FozMeadows…Tim Tams rock.
