Healthy Competition?

What do you do when you feel like you’re forced into competition with someone that you have zero interest in competing with? I’ll tell you what I do- I get pissed and then I realize that it’s completely not worth my energy and then I say fuck it. Why would I want to bother trying to scamper to the cheese that I’m being baited with? I’m being tested on purpose and I don’t like it.

I do want to prove myself. But I don’t want to feel like I have to fight for it. I feel like there’s always a fight and it’s exhausting. If that’s how you get ahead then I don’t know how much I want it anymore.

So is it healthy competition or do I just say fuck it? Personally I’m leaning towards the latter as I start to notice a theme…

Healthy if everyone is aware of the game as well as its rules. Otherwise, eff it!

Depends on what you’re in it for. If it’s something you really want - go for it. If it’s something you don’t care about - screw it. However, if you are one of those people like me who is too consumed with what people think about them, you’ll be an overachiever and do it anyway because you don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. I’m such a pushover.

Do you have no interest in competition because you don’t really want whatever you are competing for or because you just don’t like how things become a pain in the ass (and people, too!) when they compete? There’s a difference. If you have no interest, say “fuck it” and go about your merry way. If you really want it, say “fuck you” and go for it.

That’s the thing. No one thinks I know the game- but I do. I know they are forcing me to compete and I do kind of want it… but I guess I’m not willing to be ruthless to get it. I also seem to find that no matter what I suggest- no one listens to me. So if I have to piss people off or annoy people to get it, I’d rather stick to what I’m doing. At the same time… I do feel cheated and that it’s not fair.

Emerson said it best when he said “Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you.” I think you should compete with yourself. In the end will you say YES I AM BETTER THAN SO and SO? Because remember there is always going to be a SO and So. And as cheesy as this sounds everyone is different and good in their own way. I would just hate for you to never think your good enough. = )
